New Safina Party leader Jimi Wanjigi says he will not pay what he terms as “odious and unexplained” public debt if elected president, arguing that the debt burden remains the single biggest obstacle to the country’s development. Speaking as he officially took over the leadership of the 30-year-old party from lawyer Paul Muite during a special delegates convention, Wanjigi urged Gen Z to rally behind his party’s agenda to unseat President William Ruto in 2027.
