Polycystic ovarian syndrome - commonly known as PCOS - a condition affecting an estimated one in eight women worldwide, now has a new name: polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome, or PMOS. Experts say the new name reflects the fact that the condition is not just a reproductive disorder affecting the ovaries, but a complex hormonal and metabolic condition that can impact multiple organs across the body. The BBC’s Gloria Achieng explores what the new name means.
