Young people bear brunt of HIV infections despite 82% drop in new cases

    Young people continue to carry a disproportionate share of the burden of HIV infections even as the country recorded an 82% cut on new infections in a decade. Speaking at a high level roundtable on ending HIV, teenage pregnancies and sexual and gender based violence, First Lady Rachel Ruto said young people aged 10 to 34 accounted for 72 percent of new adult HIV infections in 2025, while women and girls represented about 65 percent of all new infections.
