Tea workers from Nandi County have asked for a pay increase following the rise in the cost of living. National chairman Kenya Tea Growers Association Eliakim Ochieng says the use of tea plucking machines has by multinational tea factories has led to loss of jobs in tea estates. Ochieng says the outsourcing of employment agencies has also reduced the cost of labour from 17 shillings to 8 shillings per kilo.
