The High Court in Embu has struck out an election petition challenging the victory of Mbeere North Member of Parliament Leo Wamuthende, ordering the petitioners to pay Ksh. 800,000 in costs.High Court Judge Richard Mwongo dismissed the petition filed by two voters on the grounds of failing to pay a sum of 500,000 shillings, a constitutional requirement as security for costs of the petition. However, the court upheld a separate petition filed by Newton Kariuki, a candidate who vied on a Democratic Party ticket. Leo Wamuthende was declared the winner of the Mbeere North parliamentary by-election in November 2025. The hearing of the petition has been set for March 9th, 2026.
