Govt faces Ksh.25B penalties over pending bills

    Kenyan taxpayers will have to foot up to 25 billion shillings in penalties and interest accrued for the failure by the government to clear pending bills in different departments and government agencies. According to the report by the controller of budget on the national government’s budget implementation for the financial year ending June 2025, infrastructural ministries like roads and transport, water and energy dockets are the most notorious at a time there seems to be no solid approach to reducing the pending bills that are now at over 524 billion shillings.
