    🚢 It’s one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes The Bab al-Mandab Strait connects the Gulf of Aden to the Red Sea, the Suez Canal, and eventually the Mediterranean. Iran has threatened to disrupt it - and the Houthis, an Iran-backed proxy in Yemen, have attacked ships there before, and have said they’re willing to do it again. The Strait of Hormuz, already practically closed by the war, accounts for 20% of the world's oil transport. If Bab al‑Mandab closed too, another 12% of global oil flows would be affected.
