Private employment agencies from across East and the Horn of Africa have begun efforts to establish a regional confederation aimed at promoting fair, ethical and coordinated recruitment of migrant workers seeking employment abroad.
The proposed East and Horn of Africa Regional Private Employment Agencies Association will bring together recruitment agencies from countries including Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Somalia and South Sudan. The initiative seeks to strengthen cooperation, protect migrant workers and improve recruitment practices, particularly for workers heading to Middle East and Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
