REREC CEO, Dr. Rose Mkalama: Our mandate is to ensure the electrification of rural areas. The Government of Kenya appointed REREC as the contractor to supply electricity to the Galana Kulalu Irrigation Scheme by drawing power from the Weru Power Station, located 54 kilometres away.
We are working closely with the Ministry of Roads, other stakeholders, and the community to maximize on social capital. We have identified all villages along the route from the Weru Power Station to Galana Kulalu for electrification under Phase Two through last-mile connectivity.
For projects to succeed, we must work hand in hand with the communities.
