The government has clarified that the demarcation of a section of the Mau Eastern Bloc is intended to protect critical areas of the water tower from human encroachment and destruction, and not to dispossess communities of their land.
Speaking during a public participation exercise in Neissuit, Njoro Sub-County, Directorate of Survey team leader Lawrence Ng’etich said the exercise seeks to establish boundaries and place beacons separating human settlements from protected areas of the 35,301-hectare water catchment.
