GOVERNMENT RAISES SHA CANCER COVER TO SH800,000 AS KENYA RECORDS 29,000 CANCER DEATHS ANNUALLY

The government has enhanced cancer treatment coverage under the Social Health Authority (SHA) following alarming statistics showing that nearly 29,000 Kenyans die from cancer every year, with about 44,000 new cases diagnosed annually. In a major boost for cancer care, the Ministry of Health has increased the oncology benefit package from Sh500,000 to Sh800,000 per household, a move aimed at protecting families from catastrophic health expenditure associated with cancer treatment.
