GOVERNMENT SETS ASIDE SH10 BILLION TO MODERNISE SMALLHOLDER TEA FACTORIES

The Government has set aside Sh10 billion to support value addition, mechanisation and modernisation of smallholder tea farmers’ factories as part of efforts to increase farmers’ earnings. Agriculture Principal Secretary Dr Paul Ronoh said Sh4.5 billion has already been disbursed, with Sh1 billion going towards factory modernisation and the balance supporting fertiliser subsidies.
