Government spent Sh30b on travel in 2025/26

The national government spent a whopping Sh30 billion on foreign and domestic travel in the 2025/2026 financial year, raising concerns over wastage and unnecessary expenditure. Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakang’o has raised a red flag over the spending, amid the government’s commitment to reduce wastage and unnecessary expenditure. The National Government Budget Implementation Review Report for the financial year also revealed that some projects were initiated without approved budgetary allocations.
