More than 60 per cent of inmates in Kenya’s correctional facilities have been enrolled under the Social Health Authority (SHA), Principal Secretary for Correctional Services Dr Salome Mbieko has said. The government is fully funding the cover for inmates, with registration continuing despite challenges caused by the movement of prisoners between facilities. Mbieko also highlighted ongoing reforms in environmental conservation, clean energy transition, staff housing and welfare for correctional officers and probation personnel.
