Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe says coastal counties remain underutilized in agricultural production despite their potential to triple or even quadruple the production of cassava, cotton, milk, meat and cashew nuts.
Speaking during the official opening of this year’s ASK Mombasa International Show, Kagwe said the government has embarked on a vigorous economic revival programme targeting four counties, with Lamu and Mombasa expected to provide logistical support to Kenya and the wider world.
