Migori Deputy Governor Dr. Joseph Mahiri has urged parents in the Kuria community to keep school-going children away from mining activities and allow them to pursue their education. Speaking during a visit to Komasincha Primary School in Kuria West Sub-County, Mahiri warned that involving children in mining amounts to child labour, which is punishable by law. He noted that mining activities have contributed to school dropouts and exposed children to health risks.
