Malaria infections in the country have reduced from 8 percent to 6 percent over the past decade. Principal Secretary for Public Health, Mary Muthoni, says deaths caused by malaria have declined by 31 percent. Speaking during the World Malaria Day commemoration in Kirinyaga County, PS Muthoni said Mwea and Gichugu areas in Kirinyaga County are the most affected due to mosquito-related challenges. The government has urged residents in high-risk areas to use mosquito nets and adopt modern prevention methods to ensure the disease is fully eliminated.
