Health professionals in Malindi Sub-County have expressed concern over the rising cases of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including cancer, diabetes and hypertension, which they attribute to unhealthy lifestyle habits. At the same time, they have lauded the sustained decline in malaria prevalence, which has remained at just two per cent for the past three years.
The concerns were raised during a free two-day medical camp at Jesus Care Centre (JCC) Church in Malindi, where more than 600 residents received free healthcare services, including cancer screening, tuberculosis screening, HIV testing and counselling, diabetes and blood pressure checks, and general medical consultations.
