Kenya's revised Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Policy 2026 is expected to transform the country's entrepreneurial landscape by improving access to finance, expanding market opportunities, promoting innovation and creating more jobs. Speaking during a business awareness forum in Nakuru, officials said the policy will address long-standing challenges facing small businesses, including limited access to affordable credit. The government is also proposing a National Credit Score that will allow lenders to assess borrowers based on their repayment history rather than traditional collateral. The policy further seeks to formalize informal businesses, enabling more entrepreneurs to benefit from government support programmes and financial services.
