Ruto acknowledges failures in handling Gen Z protests

President William Ruto has acknowledged failures by his administration in handling the 2024 Gen Z protests and the 2025 anniversary demonstrations, saying no blood should have been shed during the protests. Ruto, who in 2024 described the demonstrations as treasonous, has now directed investigations into deaths, alleged abductions and cases of excessive use of force during the protests.
