The government and marine conservation stakeholders are calling for stronger use of data, scientific research and effective policy implementation to protect Kenya’s marine resources from overexploitation and illegal fishing.
Speaking during a marine fisheries conservation stakeholders’ forum in Mombasa, Kenya Fisheries Service Director General Daisy Muriuki said reliable fisheries data and collaboration among government agencies, researchers, Beach Management Units and conservation organisations are critical to sustainable fisheries management.
