STAKEHOLDERS CALL FOR STRONGER SUPPORT TO BOOST BREASTFEEDING

Stakeholders have renewed calls for stronger support to promote exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a child's life and continued breastfeeding up to two years. Speaking during the national commemoration of World Breastfeeding Week 2026 in Murang'a County, health officials and development partners said Kenya has made notable progress, with 60 percent of infants under six months being exclusively breastfed—surpassing the World Health Assembly target of 50 percent.
