TRADE UNIONS PUSH FOR BETTER PAY, SAFETY AND LABOUR RIGHTS FOR TRUCK DRIVERS

Trade unions in Kenya and Uganda have launched a joint campaign to improve working conditions, fair pay, safety and social protection for long-distance truck drivers. The unions are calling for enforcement of minimum wages, regular labour inspections, improved security along the Northern Corridor, and stronger access to SHA and NSSF. They also want a sectoral CBA to harmonize pay and address challenges including long working hours, border delays and salary deductions.
