Can Ramophosa out-negotiate Trump? - BBC Africa
South Africa’s president, Cyril Ramaphosa, is due to meet Donald Trump at the White House on Wednesday in an attempt to reset relations between the two countries. Tensions have been growing since Trump claimed the South African government was doing ‘terrible things’, saying its land reform policy discriminates against white Afrikaners, a claim that has been widely discredited. Mr Trump has also been angered by South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the International Criminal Court. Trump likes to describe himself as a master negotiator, but will he meet his match in Cyril Ramaphosa?
