Opposition leaders are raising alarm over what they describe as a return to authoritarian-style governance under President William Ruto’s administration. Drawing comparisons to the infamous Nyayo era, they allege that state machinery is being used to intimidate and silence dissent.
Claims include the withdrawal of security details for key opposition figures and interference with planned political meetings. Among those allegedly targeted this week are Juja MP George Koimburi, DAP-K Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala, Naivasha MP Jane Kihara, and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya.
Critics warn that these moves threaten to erode democratic space and stifle political freedom in the country.
