Alikuwa amelala chumbani kwake, mita chache tu kutoka mahali ambapo meli ilitia nanga.
Meli ya hiyo ya mizigo iliyokuwa na bendera ya Cyprus, NCL Salten, ilikuwa na watu 16 na ilikuwa ikisafiri kusini-magharibi kupitia Trondheim Fjord hadi Orkanger ilipoondoka.
