Impostor posing as KDF brigadier arrested for conning hopeful recruits

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a man accused of posing as a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) brigadier and defrauding unsuspecting youths with fake military recruitment letters. According to a statement posted on the DCI’s official X account on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Parklands-based officers tracked down the suspect, who had been parading himself as a high-ranking military officer to extort money from hopeful KDF applicants. The impostor is said to have issued counterfeit admission letters to the Recruit Training School (RTS) in Eldoret, despite having no ties to the military.
