Funding to the agriculture sector in Africa has remained a challenged especially to the millions of small scale farmers who are a majority. The International Fund for Agriculture Development IFAD is calling for concerted effort between the private sector and African government in order to improve funding to the sector, as well as help African farmers embrace climate adaptation which if vital to improving food systems. Our reporter Philip Keitany had the opportunity on the sidelines of the ongoing AGRF summit in Kigali Rwanda to talk to the new IFAD President Alvaro Lario and tells us more.
