High court halts Kenya-US health deal pending legal challenge

The high court has issued a conservatory order stopping the implementation of the health cooperation agreement between Kenya and the United States. Justice Chacha Mwita barred the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the National Treasury, and the Office of the Attorney General from implementing or acting on the agreement until a petition filed by Busia Senator Okiyah Omtatah is heard and determined. The court said the petition raises serious constitutional questions.
