Government ramps up irrigation to boost food production

The government says it is accelerating its shift toward irrigation-fed, large-scale agriculture, as a way of mitigation against recurrent droughts and climate volatility, which undermine rain-fed agriculture, warning that traditional production models can no longer meet the needs of a growing population.
