Metropol Credit Reference Bureau CEO Sammy Omukoko has rejected the assertion that 14 million people are blacklisted by the CRBs. He instead clarified that out of 19 million Kenyans in the credit reference bureau system, it is an estimated six million Kenyans who are negatively listed, making up 22% of all borrowers in the country and whose credit histories are stored with the CRBs. Omukoko has nevertheless welcomed reforms in credit information sharing-CIS as proposed by President William Ruto, adding that they expect the Central Bank of Kenya to approve the best pricing formula to be applied based on the credit scores provided.
