President Ruto orders accelerated national response to alcohol, drug abuse

President William Ruto has ordered an accelerated national response to alcohol and drug abuse in the country. Speaking after chairing a multi-agency meeting to fast-track response to alcohol and drug abuse, the President said additional officers are being deployed to the Anti-Narcotics Unit. He also noted that the relevant legal framework will be finalised to strengthen coordination and accountability across government. The President said the government will take a whole-of-government approach, combining prevention, enforcement, treatment, and recovery, to protect citizens and safeguard national security.
