Speaking during a burial ceremony in Kitui West, the Senator claimed that individuals he described as known sand cartels have resorted to threats and intimidation, including sending him threatening text messages, in a bid to stop the ongoing campaign against illegal sand harvesting. Senator Wambua maintained that the fight is not a personal battle but a future-focused agenda aimed at safeguarding Kitui’s environment, vowing that no amount of threats will deter him from pursuing an end to the vice.
