Former Meru governor Kiraitu Murungi has announcement his retirement from active politics to concentrate on other career aspirations.Speaking when he received an honorary doctorate from the Laikipia university, Kiraitu said in his over 3 decades in active politics, he had madea significant contribution in the political space and it was now time to give way to emerging politicians to steer the country forward. Elsewhere, the Kikuyu council of elders have called for sobriety in the political scene, warning against any form of violence for political expediency, saying it poses a major risk to the stability the country enjoys today.
