Imam charged with fraud over KSh 774,000 Hajj scam

An imam accused of defrauding Muslim faithful will on Tuesday learn whether he will be released on bail or remain in custody as investigations continue. Ustadh omar athman was arraigned in court over allegations that he swindled a muslim faithful of more than KSh 700,000, pretending he could organize a pilgrimage to Mecca. He was arrested on Sunday at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport upon arrival in the country. Following his arrest, more victims have reported cases against him to various police stations, widening investigations into the case.
