President William Ruto has chaired the first cabinet meeting of his 5th administration at state house, Nairobi. Though the meeting’s agenda and deliberations are yet to be unveiled by the president’s communication team, videos of the newly sworn in cabinet secretaries arriving and settling in for the session were shared. President Ruto’s cabinet has 15 male ministers and 7 female ministers, who he appointed alongside national security advisor Monica Juma, gender advisor Harriet Chigai and secretary to the cabinet Mercy Wanjau. The process of picking principal secretaries in the 51 state departments is underway, with the nominees awaiting vetting by various national assembly departmental committees that kicks off next week. The president is also expected to appoint chief administrative secretaries (CASs) with politicians who failed to clinch elective seats in the august 9th general election lining up for the jobs
