MoH launches maternal death surveillance to curb high fatalities in 26 counties

The government has raised the alarm over rising maternal and newborn deaths in 26 high-burden counties. Health cabinet secretary Aden Duale says every maternal death must spark immediate action, as the ministry rolls out an accelerated national response plan. The initiative targets gaps in emergency referrals, staffing, blood supply, essential commodities, and financial barriers that continue to put mothers and newborns.
