Oil importation deal shrouded in opaqueness and secrecy

The multi-billion importation of oil by the government from the United Arab Emirates could be yet another scandal following lamentations by the energy committee of the national assembly that says the whole deal so far is being shrouded in opaqueness and secrecy. This saw the Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir kicked out of the committee mandated to oversight the ministry for failing to respond to queries on whether the 3 UAE based companies are private companies and not government-owned as anticipated in the new regulations and as well clarify on allegations that the prices per metric tonne of the imported oil are higher, possibly serving as kickbacks for few high ranking officials.
