Legislators under the African Parliamentary Network Union are calling on the ODM party to take disciplinary action on Homabay MP Peter Kaluma following his amendment bill which intends to allow government officials to hold public offices after serving their sentences if indicted for corruption. Kaluma is seeking to water down the Anti-corruption and Economic Crimes Act of 2003 by deleting section 64 of chapter six of the constitution which bars corruption and economic crimes convicts from holding public office. According to the group, the Kaluma amendments are not only against the values of the ODM party whose party leader Raila Odinga has been on the frontline in the fight against corruption but also contravenes the constitution.
