Four journalists were injured Friday night after they were assaulted by security guards commonly referred to as bouncers during a Shisha crackdown by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug abuse at Kettle House Bar and Grill in Lavington Muthangari in Nairobi. Kenya Broadcasting Corporation’s Camera Person Jane Kibira was among those injured but has since been treated and discharged from Hospital. Several security officers were also injured during the melee. NACADA Head of Reinforcement Nicholas Kosgei has regretted the incident but maintains that they will not be intimidated in their fight against alcohol and drug abuse.The Kenya Braodcasting Corporation Acting Managing Director, Paul Macharia, has condmned the attack of journalists on duty and wished all those affected quick recovery. . The Kenya Editors Guild and the Kenya Union of Journalist while condemning the incident said the perpetrators and the club’s owner should be held accountable.
