With the court of appeal on Friday lifted an order blocking the implementation of the social health insurance fund, the scheme will go forward to provide affordable healthcare to all Kenyans, replacing the 57-year-old National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). The new scheme which further seeks to ensure equity and access to health services by the poor and those in the informal sector, who were left out for the years NHIF has been in existence, incorporates the Social Health Insurance Act 2023, Primary Health Care Act 2023 and the digital health act 2023
