Police Scotland probes funeral firm over mishandled remains and fraud claims

Police Scotland is investigating more than 70 complaints of alleged mismanagement of human remains and funeral funds linked to the former A Milne Independent Funeral Directors. The inquiry, codenamed Operation Koine, was launched in April 2024 after reports of missing ashes and fraudulent prepaid funeral plans surfaced. Three people were arrested last year in connection with the case, but were later released pending further investigations.
