Residents of Thome village in Laikipia County are up in arms over the stalled construction of Iriuko Bridge, that has left them without water for three months. The construction that began in June 2025 have stalled again with locals saying the contractor shut down a water pumping station cutting off supply to over 800 households. With crops drying up and water bills mounting, residents are threatening to demolish part of the bridge to restore the flow of water , amid reports that the contractor abandoned the site following delayed payments from the treasury.
