The government has received a consignment of 40 tonnes of food items from the government of the United Arab Emirates for victims of floods in various parts of the country. Speaking while receiving the consignment at Jomo Kenyatta Internationa Airport in Nairobi, Arid and Semi Arid cabinet secretary Penina Malonza said the food items that include cooking oil, rice, milk powder, white peas and sugar among others will be distributed to the affected families beginning next week.
