School going girls from needy backgrounds are set to receive free sanitary towels if a proposal fronted by county women leaders sails through parliament. The women representatives say atleast 65% of teen girls miss school due to lack of proper menstrual hygiene products. County women legislators are now pushing for access to free sanitary towels to be distributed to all public schools across the country. Kiambu county woman MP Ann Wamuratha says the distribution of free sanitary towels through the office of the Women representative under the National Government Affirmative action fund will ensure girls do not miss school during their menses.
