Athletes drawn from Iten in Elgeyo Marakwet county under a union dubbed Tirops Angels have condemned the increased cases of gender-based violence targeting athletes.The union that defends the rights of athletes against gender-based violence in the country led by their chairperson Joan Chelimo called on any athlete who experiences any form of violence and injustice to come forward and report the matter. The athletes have also called on the government to ensure justice is served to their fallen colleagues. The calls come amid an uproar over the death of a Ugandan athlete Rebecca Cheptegei who succumbed to injuries sustained during an alleged assault by an ex-boyfriend
