At least 13 women have died during childbirth in Kajiado County over the past three months, highlighting a concerning rise in maternal mortality across the region. According to data from the county's Department of Health, seven of the deaths were caused by excessive bleeding, with most of these cases occurring during home births. During a public sensitization forum on safe childbirth held in Loitokitok organized by the Kajiado County Government in partnership with NGOs women cited limited access to healthcare facilities as a major reason why many expectant mothers continue to rely on traditional birth attendants in remote villages.
