20-year-old Nyeri skater eyes world record after skating backwards for 20 kms in 1hr 20mins

    20-year-old Muiga Githinji is hopeful to become the new world record holder in back skating, after completing a 20KM run In Nyeri on Friday Morning The record for the longest non-stop backward skating is held by Indian national Venu Ramana, who skated 14KM’s in January 2022 in 1hour, 8 minutes and 2 seconds. Muiga surpassed the 14Km feat 1hr a minute and 20 seconds. The event, that kicked off at maganjo secondary school gate,through Chieni, Hiriga, statelodge and back nonstop, saw Muiga cross the 20Km mark in 1hr 20 minutes and 53 Seconds. The young athlete who turned 20 today, hopes to use his achievements in advocating for the up taking of skating as a sport in the country, more so, funded to grow mushrooming talents in the country.
