BasiGo, Rubis roll out EV charging stations

BasiGo and Rubis Energy have partnered to install electric vehicle charging stations along major roads across the country. The first station is already operational at a Rubis service station in Athi River, with three more expected to open in Meru, Nanyuki and Nyeri before the end of July. The expansion is expected to make it easier for electric vehicles to travel between Nairobi and other towns. The stations will charge BasiGo's electric buses but will also be open to the public, allowing drivers of electric cars, vans and trucks to use them. The fast chargers can fully charge a typical electric car in less than an hour, with drivers expected to pay about KSh48 per unit of electricity used.
