A persistent shortage of blood is putting thousands of lives at risk, prompting renewed calls for Kenyans to donate blood regularly.
The Ministry of Health is introducing technology that will enable the donation of specific blood components, including plasma and white blood cells, to expand treatment options for patients.
Health experts say mothers suffering from postpartum haemorrhage and cancer patients are among those most in need of blood and blood components.
They are urging Kenyans to make blood donation a regular practice, saying no patient should have to wait for lifesaving blood.
